As per official government notification, the revised petroleum prices are as follows:
| Product | Existing Price | New Price | Increase / Decrease |
|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol | Rs263.45 | Rs253.17 | -Rs10.28 |
| High-Speed Diesel | Rs265.65 | Rs257.08 | -Rs8.57 |
The new prices will remain effective for 15 days, providing immediate relief to consumers across the country.
Government Decision Based on OGRA Recommendations
Officials confirmed that the decision was taken after reviewing recommendations submitted by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The Ministry of Finance forwarded its summary to the prime minister, after which final approval was granted.
Following the approval, the Ministry of Petroleum issued the official notification, making the revised fuel prices effective from January 1.
Why This Fuel Price Cut Matters
Petrol is widely used by commuters, including motorcyclists, rickshaw drivers, and small vehicle owners, meaning any reduction directly impacts daily travel expenses. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel plays a key role in transportation and agriculture, influencing the prices of food items and essential goods.
Experts believe the latest fuel price reduction could help lower transport costs, ease inflationary pressure, and provide broader economic relief in the coming weeks.
As Pakistan steps into the New Year, the fuel price cut is being seen as a positive signal for consumers, offering some financial breathing space amid rising living costs.
